May also brought the need for urgent sowing of the last area where dredgings from the lake had been deposited. The ground had finally had its surface evened, leaving earth that was still rough in places and compacted in others. A working party was hastily summoned and on Tuesday morning it set to with rakes and forks tp provide a more receptive surface for grass seed. Luckily Ken had already put in several hours of work the previous Saturday, reducing the size of the task considerably.
