And a final thought, taken from the notice board...
Our forebears took February seriously. Its weather had great predictive value for them: the more rain and snow the better as far as their crops were concerned. Rain in February is as good as manure (French proverb)
February fill dyke, January ended with frost and ice, but catkins and our first daisy had appeared before the month was out. There were more signs of Spring's approach by the 8th of February when the photos below were taken by Carole Morris.
