Orange peel provides a splash of colour in the litter collected by the Morrises on the last day of January.

January 31st:
We went down to make a change on the notices and took camera and litter picker with us.
Not a lot to report, but here is a photo of Neil's rather fine surrounding accommodation for his bees. The bees were not in evidence, I expect they were keeping warm.
The bucket shows the eclectic mix of litter. No dog bags this time, but some piles of uncollected poo were noted.

February 5th: Sodden January gave way briefly to a few days of frost.A thin layer of ice covered the lake for the first time this year, attracting the usual array of available missiles.

Carole wrote: We went downto the reserve this morning (Feb. 5th), mainly to try and capture the drifting billows of steam coming off the lake. Unfortunately we missed most of it, when the sun went behind the clouds, but managed to capture a bit. The lake was partly frozen with bricks on it ready to sink to the bottom again!

After having all those ducks on the lake a couple of weeks ago we are down to four, two of whom I photo'd.
